Khat-Barg: In the scriptures, Khat stands for number six. Since this table consists of six aspects it is named Khat-Barg. This shows all the good and bad properties of planets. First is Hora, the second is drishkand, the third is Saptansha, the fourth is Navansha the fifth dwadashansha, and the sixth is khat barg trishansha. Hora helps in knowing the state of pleasure, wealth health, pain and trouble; Drish kaund tells almost the deeds of the newborn and the circumstances one’s brothers may go through. Saptansh indicates the habits and temperament of children. Naunsha reveals the nature of woman and the behavior of friends, Trishans depict the conditions of illness and death while dwadishans may guide about the degree of comfort one’s parents may enjoy in their life.
Hora: The half portion of Rashi or ascendant is called Hora. In ascendant consists of 30 Anshas. Every ascendant is divided into equal halves. Then 30 ascendants are divided by 2. One portion will be of 15 Ansh. This very portion is Hora. The two portions pertain to the seen and the noon. If one has to observe the hora of another planet that planet will be in the hora of either the Sun or the Moon. In case a planet will be in the inference for more than even one Ghari it will be accounted towards the purloin of hora, while if it is less than even one Ghari it will be announced towards the first portion of Hora. Odd ascendants are Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra Sagittarius, and Aquarius. Their first portion of 15 ansha is of the Sun and the second portion from 16 to 30 Ansha is of the Moon. Even ascendants are Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, and Pisces. In that first half is the Hora of the Moon while in another half is the Hora of the Sun. In hora, the plants stay in Leo and cancer Rashis. There the law is that the half portion is up to 15 Ansh while. Hora of the Moon is auspicious while bora of the sum is ominous.
