Holstices in Hindu Vedic Astrology!

In astrology, the Indian holistic depends upon the Sun’s speed. When the Sun enters from one house to another tith is known as holstice (sankrant). There are 12 holstices in a year. The first holstice is mekh sankrant. Its year begins with Baisakh while the calculation begins from sambat bikramahih. At the beginning of Baisakh Sankrant the Sun travels to mekh holstice. This holistic covers Baisakh (Hindi) and April (English). In a sequence, the holstices are Aries (hamal); Taurus (Saur); Gemini (Jauz); Sagitarius (mizan); Scorpio (Aqrab); Dhanu (Qaus); Capricorn (Jaddi); Aquarisous (Dalv) and Pisces (Hut). In the Arabic language, these houses are called celestial circles.

Description of Dates (tithi)

Counting the solar dates known as Tithis that are entered in an almanac according to the days of each month suljeet to Periodic fluctuations. Indians divide these days into two portions. One is evil or darkness and the other is good or light. The time when the Moon rises is known as good (shudhi) covering the period from the fourthday of the month to the full Moon (Puranmashi) as the light of the Moon becomes brighter gradually during these days. Another part covering the period from the first date to amavashya is known as darker part. Each part has fifteen days. In the lunar calendar, the first day after the full Moon is called the 16th and amavashya    is the thirteenth. The time in gharis and pals of these days is calculated according to Moon rise.
