Libra is the Seventh sign
of the Zodiac which is sometimes referred to as the Balance. The origin of the
word Libra derives from the Latin meaning “balances” or “scales.” Often, a
statue of the Goddess of Justice holding the scales or balances is erected over
the domes of Justice holding the scales or balances is erected over the domes
of modern court houses. In ancient times, this constellation was associated
with the judgment of the living and the dead. Libra is the only inanimate sign
of the Zodiac, as the other eleven representing either human or animal forms.
Nonetheless, some astrologers consider Libra to be the most desirable of all
Zodiac types because it represents the zenith of the year. It is a destructive
or mischievous (`Dhatin’), biped, Seershodaya i.e., a sign which rise with its
head; strong during daytime, represents Sudras or the 4th Varna,
black in complexion and is predominant with Rajo guna having a medium build
physique. It relates to the western direction and its residence includes lanes,
market, towns, and buildings. It is ruled by the Venus and it is a movable,
airy and male sign. Also known as the sign of the Judge or Ambassador, like
Aries, Gemini, Leo, Sagittarius and Aquarius; Libra is positive in polarity.

extrovert personality and such individuals are naturally more impulsive, buoyant,
communicative and sociable than are the Zodiac Signs of Negative polarity.
However, positive signs rarely display the same levels of sensitivity or the
same dept of understanding of emotional subtleties as do their negative
counterparts. Positive signs tend to crave excitement and thus, are inclined to
direct their energies outward into the world around them. Aries is the most
flagrantly extrovert of the positive signs (with Sagittarius a close second).
Venus is the planet for
harmony and grace, and in this airy sign these qualities get expressed in more
abstract forms. The symbol of Libra is a man holding scales, symbolizing an
innate affinity with considering balance, proper relations and the harmonious
exchange of things. People with a prominent Libra will be easy to deal with due
to their Venusians quality. The element of air gives an ability to easily sense
other’s people’s nature, and Venus added to that makes for a great talent to
create pleasant relationships. Such people will be good at maintaining a
balance in the process of giving and taking, or they can use the same to their
advantage in salesman type work. This Sign becomes strong, when it is in
between 0degree to 3degree.20’
