Dr. Shanker Adawal

Rules to Analysis and Interpret the Effects of Twelve Houses – in Brief:

The Sages and men of mature wisdom have given various results arising out of the association of the various planets with the various houses.

Good and Evil Results – When

1. If a natural benefic planet is lord of any house and is located in that house or aspects it and the houses aspected or associated are not under the influence of malefic planets by association or aspect the house concerned gets boosted in regard to the traits related to it.

Similarly natural malefic planets lords of houses similarly situated do not give nice results. Planets in general are strong when they are not in debilitation, eclipsed by Sun or in inimical signs.

If there are natural malefic planets in the 6th, 8th or 12th from the Ascendant etc, and the lords of these houses are natural benefics, these benefic do not give much good results.

2. Al the House will show their good results fully provided they are occupied or aspected by benefic planets or their own lords, or

Planets owning auspicious house are free from the association or aspect of evil planets to give positive results.

Similar will be the effect in the case of inauspicious planets, if they own the concerned house. Further the good result will be ensured for all the planets provided, they be not placed in their debilitation or eclipsed or posited in their inimical signs.

3. The strength of a House (counting it as Ascendant) should be adequate and the House is thoroughly beneficial when the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th and 10th places from that house are occupied by benefic or the lord of the House is free from occupation of evil house; and, are neither aspected nor associated by a malefic planet.

4. The House becomes weak when the positions referred to above are adversely occupied and aspected. The result of the House will be a compromise effects, when the said positions are occupied or aspected by auspicious and inauspicious planets promiscuously.

5. When the Ascendant and other House being examined are having the following given conditions:

The respective House has its lord placed in the 8th place or Eclipsed by the rays of the Sun or is in depression or in an inimical house.

While no benefic planet aspects or conjoins it, the result is total destruction of such a House.

The House will be incapable of giving any good result even if an auspicious planet, other than its lord in similar condition occupies the 8th House from Ascendant; should a malefic be in that position, the total destruction of said House would be the result.

When inauspicious planets occupy the 6th, 8th and the 12th house reckoned from the Ascendant or the other House under consideration, they cause the destruction of the said House.

Auspicious planets in such a position are also incapable of giving good effects for the respective House.

If a House has its lord posited in the 6th, 8th or the 12th or is occupied by the lord of anyone of these evil houses, it suffers destruction. But when this House has the asapect of a benefic planet, it flourishes.

6. A house suffers annihilation in the under mentioned conditions:

i. The house itself, its lord and its Karaka are devoid of strength and are hemmed between malefic; or

ii. The above are conjoined with or aspected by malefic or inimical planets and have no association or aspected by the benefic or friendly planet; or

iii. If the 4th, the 8th and the 12th house or the 5th and the 9th house from that house are occupied by inauspicious planets.

This will be all the more evident, if any two or three of the said conditions fulfils.

7. The following planets are responsible for the destruction of any House during their Dasa period or sub periods:

The lord of the 8th house reckoned from the House,

The lord of the 22nd Drekkana counted from the House,

Planets occupying the 6th, the 8th and the 7th house counted from the House, when they are weak.

8. A house will prosperous in the period and sub periods of the following planets:

The planets which are friendly to the planet owning the House are said to bring success to the House during their respective Dasas

Malefic in the 3rd, the 6th and the 11th house from that house and

Benefic in the Angular and Trine house from, when counted from the concerned House, provided they possess adequate strength.

9. Each one of the following planet is said to bring about the annihilation of the House which are occupied by malefic, and those surrounded on both side by malefic in its respective Dasa period:

The lords of the 3rd house from the Ascendant, as well as the Moon,

The planet occupying, as well as, the one aspecting the 8th house,

The lord of the 22nd Drekkana,

The planet owning the sign occupied by Mandi,

The planets, owning the signs and navamsa is occupied by the aforesaid planets.

Rahu when weak by being situated in evil house (the 6th, the 8th or the 12th) or in association with or aspected by malefic;

10. Whichever House is occupied by the lord of the Ascendant, the prosperity or well-being of that House is assured.

The House owned by the planet associated with or aspecting the lord of the Ascendant enhances the effects of these House, which will be pushed on by the lord of the Ascendant.

When the lord of a House occupies a evil house (6th, 8th or 12th) the effect will be contrary; i.e., if the planet is weak, the effect will be most harmful;

If strong, the damage will be slight.
