1) Accepting the scientific division of periods for a particular planet under Vimshotri dasha, the results in a particular Antra/ Pratantra would depend on the placement of the planet how it is being aspected, whether it has the requisite strength including degree-wise and whether it is placed in any of the inauspicious houses i.e. 6th, 8th and 12th house give rise to certain type of yogas.
2) The delineation of effects of operating planets during their dasha (Maha-dasa, Antra etc.) is often a hard nut to crack and needs deep stuffy of the totality of the horoscope. Books are replete with the effects of a particular Dasha but at times the events expected do not happen at all i.e. are considered to be beyond astrology and then you have to go to the concept of 'Parabdh' and other factors. What is needed is the well-guarded pronouncement by the astrologer with reference to present day times. i.e. modern equipment, new professions and other new objects which have come to stay but the astrologer has to find answer from the given 12 houses/signs, 7 planets apart from Rahu/Ketu in Hindu Astrology and 27/28 Nakshtras.
THE SUN:
We have a leading classic-Brihat Prasara Hora Sastra good effects are indicated during the dasha of the Sun id the Sun is in exalted sign (Aries) or in own sign (Leo) the 11th house, or Kendra (1,4,7,10) and also in trines (5th and 9th ). In Sarvartha Chintamani, different effects have been given during the period of the Sun keeping in view different situations of the Sun i.e. in exaltation. Debilitation, Arohi, Avrohi, inimical signs, friendly signs etc. it may not be possible to refer to all the effects but would suffice to say that the Sun occupying the highest degree of exaltation can give land, wealth, wife, name and fame appear form honor from the king and high position. On the contrary the Sun at the highest degree of debilitation gives danger from the ruler (present day government), separation from home and travel in far-off places, death of elders and also death of wife or son and also destruction of the assets held in any form. — Antagonism towards the Ruler (VIPs) and the Ministers.
— Distress to mother, imprisonment and loss of kinsmen.
The above results are indicated in Prasara Hora Sastra. Further, if the Moon be the Lord of the 2nd or 7th house or be associated with lord of 8th or 12the there will be pains in the body and danger of premature death.
Remedial measure includes giving charity of a tawny colored cow or female buffalo. In addition, recitations of Mantras for the Moon are also suggested.
According to Sarvarth- Chintamani, the native gets flowers, clothes, status, wife, wealth, sons happiness of mind with the Moon in highest degree of exaltation. Contrary to exaltation position, the native gets trouble and dangers, mental worry, financial losses, exile, imprisonment, being changed, want of food, danger from thieves, fire and ruled and loss of son & wife during the ruling period of the Moon in the sign of debilitation.

MARS
Mars has major role to play in the life of both men and women, it serves the ignition key and gives energy. Without discussing this aspect, ruling periods of Mars has to be looked from various angles. Mars has three aspects i.e. 4th, 7th and 8th apart from angular position of planets with reference to Mars. Further, Mars shall have different effects when in Retrograde Motion. Benefic results/ effects include gains of wealth, gains from Government, beneficence of Goddess Laxmi and also regaining of high position during the ruling period of Mars apart from birth of son. This is possible when Mars is exaltation sign, in his own sign, and is endowed with strength. On the other hand, urinary troubles, wounds, danger from snakes and the government are indicated when Mars be in 8th or 12th or to be associated with or aspected if Mars be the Lord of 2nd or 7th houses.
Among the remedial measures, as per Prasara Hora, include worship of Lord Shiva, Rudra Japa and also giving in charity 'red bull'. When Rahu is connected, remedials include Naga Puja and also food to Brahmins. Recitation of Mrityunjaya Mantra is also indicated when Mercury is in 6th/8th/12th form Mars to avoid defamation, danger from thief, fire and ruler. According to Sarvarth – Chintamani, during the ruling period of Mars in its debilitation sign (Cancer) the native protects this people by bad means, takes bad food, loss of cattle, conveyances, loss of relatives losses through the ruler, thief and fire are indicated. Mars under aspects of malefics can also give loss of land and wealth.
